Local Girl Scout Tells "Tales of the Rails"

Local Girl Scout Tells "Tales of the Rails"

Terrific job by Allentown High senior and Robbinsville-Allentown Girl Scout Gold Award achiever Julianna Lubbe, who officially opened "Tales of the Rails'' Park on South Main Street in the Village of Windsor on Thursday, August 27, 2015.

Julianna cleaned up and refurbished the old rail tracks that ran across church street and beyond as part of her GS service project. She also erected signs illuminating the history of the Camden-Amboy rail line, which trace all the way back to The John Bull steam engine train in 1831.

Additionally, Julianna received a Legislative Proclamation from D-14 Assemblyman Dan Benson, and was supported Thursday by Township council members Chris Ciaccio (who also served as her mentor on the project), Vince Calcagno and Sheree McGowan. Public Works Director Dino Colarocco played a key role, along with his staff, in helping to get Julianna to the finish line.

Lifelong Windsor resident Shirley Bouchelle, far right, also was on hand. Shirley told the story of how she used to mail letters thrown from the train to her by soldiers head to, or back from the war.

Congratulations from everyone at Robbinsville Township and the Village of Windsor on a job very well done!
