RPD Unveils "No-Shave November"

ROBBINSVILLE, NJ - (October 27, 2017) - Police Officers in Robbinsville Township are required to be clean-shaven at all times, save for a well-groomed mustache.

But this November, a number of officers, with the blessing of Mayor Dave Fried and Chief Chris Nitti, are tossing aside their razors for "No-Shave November" - an initiative aimed at raising funds for cancer and, more specifically, Joe Barker's  ongoing battle with the disease.

To participate in "No-Shave November" from Nov. 1-30, participating officers will make a $100 donation to grow a full beard, and a $50 donation to grow a goatee. Female officers will make a $50 donation to paint their fingernails or wear ribbons, headbands or barrettes.

Residents will have the opportunity to vote on the PBA Local #344 Facebook page, and the Robbinsville Township Facebook page will keep residents apprised of the results.
Categories include:
"Best Try" - (AKA the "Participation Trophy" for the officer who didn't shave, but still doesn't really have a beard!
"The Ugly" - (Think desert island survivor ... or Keanu Reeves)
"The Natural" - (Soap Opera star type handsome)
"The St. Nick" - (Fashioned after Santa Claus himself)
"The Meanie" - (The look you probably wouldn't bring home to Mama)
"The Best" - (No explanation needed)

All proceeds will be donated to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center on behalf of Robbinsville Township Recreation Director Joe Barker.

Mr. Barker is currently battling cancer and is not only a friend of the PBA Local #344, but to everyone in this community. Joe is a pillar of hope, strength and represents all that is good in our great town.  Get well soon. Joe!
